Membership Information

Membership of the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society is open anyone having an interest in family history wherever in the world they may live. Applications for membership should be submitted on the application form provided and sent, with the appropriate payment, to the address below. You may also join in person by visiting Clayton House during Resource Centre opening hours and enjoy immediate use of the Centre, subject to payment of the annual fee.

Applications will normally be processed within one week of receipt when your membership card will be mailed with your "Fact Pack". UK applicants should receive their Fact Pack within two weeks of submitting their application but overseas applicants may experience a delay of up to four weeks since our overseas mail is delivered via a forwarding agent.

Membership becomes renewable one year after the beginning of the month in which membership commences. This will be shown on your membership card(s). If membership is not renewed within three months, we reserve the right to require a new application for membership and for the the registration fee to be paid in addition to the subscription.

Membership

There are three classes of membership:

  • Individual Membership is limited to one named individual only and is available to people living in the United Kingdom. Individual membership currently costs £15.00 per annum to new members.
  • Family Membership is limited to one named individual and a named partner or family member who need not live at the same address and is available to people living in the United Kingdom. Two membership cards will be issued. Only one Fact Pack and one copy of the Manchester Genealogist will be supplied to the named individual. Family Membership currently costs £18.00 per annum to new members.
  • Overseas Membership Overseas membership is available to individuals living outside the United Kingdom. Overseas membership currently costs £15.00 per annum.

In addition to the above annual fees, a one-off registration fee of £3.00 is payable with each application to join the Society.

We will also accept payment by credit or debit card (excluding American Express). Please enter the required card details on the application form. Payments by credit or debit card will be debited in Sterling and billed to the applicant in local currency. In view of the charges to clear credit card payments, we would prefer UK applicants to pay by cheque or money order.
