15 Apr 2017Scanning and indexing will begin shortly in respect of one day book and 17 ledgers of T Broome & Sons, Funeral Directors of Ardwick. Permission to publish has been requested of the copyright holders, Co-op Archives. Further enquiries continue to be made in respect of the records of a number of other firms.
23 Dec 2016Ed Baines has written to five of the most well established Funeral Directors in central Manchester requesting their help in preserving their pre-WW2 records. No replies have yet been received and reminders will be sent in the early part of 2017. Following a successful meeting on Dec 2 by Ed Baines with the regional manager of Co-op Funeral Clare, Manchester further meetings are planned in the New Year at the Co-op Archives, at New Century House and with Stiles Funeral Directors, Newton Heath. It is hoped that as a result of these meetings the society will be able to identify Archives suitable for scanning as well as obtain the necessary permissions to do so.

A meeting is being arranged with the Co-operative Heritage Trust to examine what records it may hold of interest.
